Consumption of paper by administration is discouraging. Everybody keep track of every transaction, conversation, decision by printing on a piece of paper, often time single side. McGill should have a place where each Department or Unit can post items or furniture or materials and supplies they no longer need or use, all or some of these items might be of use or value to another Department or Unit.

If there is a justification, a fair market value cost could also be changed to the Department taking the goods crediting the Fund of the selling Unit.

Decrease the number of Office Garbage Bins

Most offices and work stations have their own garbage bins (with a plastic bag) and a recycling bin. This mean that every night, custodial has to empty these bins and often replace the plastic garbage bag. Remove all of the indivuals garbage and recycling bins and put them in one ore more central place depending on the size of the office. This mean less garbage plastic bags and more time for custodial to do other stuff.... more »
